When you visit our showroom, we will ask what area you will be tiling. This will help determine the best type of tile for your space. With so many tile options to choose from, here’s a brief summary of different types we offer:
Mosaics-Mosaics come in a variety of different materials, shapes, and sizes. They can be made of glass, metal, stone, ceramic, wood, or multiple materials mixed together. We also offer custom, handmade mosaics. The right layout and mosaic can add color, texture, and personality to your space.
Natural Stone-While natural stone is porous and does require special care and maintenance, there is nothing else like it. Each piece is unique and gives a richness to any space it’s installed in. With so many new cut sizes and mosaic patterns to choose from, you can achieve an updated take on a traditional surface that is timeless. Choose from Marble, Limestone, Travertine, onyx, quartzite, and slate options in our showroom.
Porcelain– Porcelain tile is one of the most durable options in tile. In general, porcelain tile is harder than ceramic tile. The clay used to make porcelain tile is more refined and purified. It’s fired at a higher temperature, resulting in an extremely dense and hard material. Because of its strength, it is typically available in a larger range of sizes. Porcelain can also be rectified — cut to a precise size so all tiles are identical, allowing the tile to be set with extremely tight grout joints.
Porcelain tile is ideal for cold-weather climates where freeze/thaw conditions are a concern. Due to its low moisture absorption rate (.5 percent or less), porcelain is less likely to crack and is more impervious to stains, also making it very easy to maintain.
Ceramic-Ceramic tiles are another durable option. Outside of handmade tile, the process to make ceramic tile requires much less labor and time, making it very affordable and easy to maintain.
